আফগানিস্তান have risen to sixth in the ICC men's ODI team rankings, overtaking শ্রীলঙ্কা to claim their highest-ever position in the format.। Their latest rise comes on the back of a strong রান of results in the 50-over format. আফগানিস্তান beat আয়ারল্যান্ড 4-0 in an away series in August before going unbeaten in the recently concluded UAE tri-series involving জিম্বাবুয়ে and বাংলাদেশ.। They beat জিম্বাবুয়ে by seven উইকেট to clinch the title in Sharjah with Rashid Khan claiming the Player of the Series award with 11 scalps. In the competition, আফগানিস্তান also skittled বাংলাদেশ out for 160 before chasing it down in 35.3 overs.।

আফগানিস্তান have won 96 of their 191 ODIs, maintaining an impressive win-loss ratio of 1.09. They had already moved ahead of teams such as বাংলাদেশ, ইংল্যান্ড and ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ in the rankings, and have now climbed past শ্রীলঙ্কা as well.। ভারত lead the ODI rankings with নিউজিল্যান্ড, দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকা, পাকিস্তান and অস্ট্রেলিয়া occupying the next four positions. In T20Is, ইংল্যান্ড are the top-ranked team with ভারত and অস্ট্রেলিয়া occupying the second and third spots respectively.।
